Lecturing at the New York Film Academy

Over the last year I have compiled and taught a research based, rigorous UX program to both game design and cinematic VR students at NYFA. Topics include: Physical UX, Volumetric Filmmaking, Immersive Interfaces, Vection, Embodiment, Presence, Cognitive Load Management as well as full Design Sprints.

As such, I have been a part of dozens of individual VR projects and counting.

The Panopticon Project

I am working with The New York Foundation for the Arts to produce and direct an ongoing video project about personal identity and how individuals internalize institutional ideologies. The film consists of a series of interviews with various subjects shot in 180º and composited together to form a fully 360º experience.

Armadillon

I created a custom control scheme for the HTC Vive and built a fully immersive 3D destruction experience entirely in Unity. The story follows a destructive armadillo god named 'Dillon' who is controlled using a basic touch interface and a fixed point perspective that is simple enough to be translated into experiences for Gear VR and Google Daydream.

Space, Ownership and Territoriality

In my early explorations of VR and interactive 360 photography I wanted to explore the idea of space and how VR is unique in the fact that the viewer occupies no space within an experience. This led to an art project about how different entities such as nature, governments and nations seek to control the space around us. I constructed, lit and photographed a highly directed scene meant to put the viewer in an immersive artistic environment.
